It’s not Groundhog Day. It’s a total takeover of Egypt Valley
Didn’t we just do this? Seriously.
Last week, the Oil and Gas Land Management Commission approved fracking across thousands of acres in Egypt Valley and Salt Fork.
Now they’re back. Already.
Egypt Valley Wildlife Area is about 18,000 acres.
- More than 8,000 acres are already moving forward after last week’s vote.
- And now there are four new nominations totaling 8,367 acres.
Do the math. This is a full scale takeover happening in real time.
They are trying to open up nearly the entire wildlife area to fracking. And they’re doing it fast.
Here’s what we need you to do right now: Submit comments opposing all four new Egypt Valley nominations
26-DNR-0006 — 5,440 acres
26-DNR-0007 — 1,286 acres
26-DNR-0008 — 778 acres
26-DNR-0009 — 863 acres
Each one is separate. Each one needs opposition on the record.
If you don’t know what to say, we’re providing four sample comments. Choose one or use them all, but please make it your own. Explain what our parks and wildlife areas mean to you. Tell a personal story if you have one.
I oppose all nominations to frack Egypt Valley Wildlife Area. This is public land that belongs to the people of Ohio and should be protected for conservation, recreation, and wildlife. Fracking this area puts water, habitats, and the long term integrity of the land at risk. These nominations should be rejected.
I strongly oppose these nominations to frack Egypt Valley Wildlife Area. This is public land meant to be protected, not industrialized. Approving fracking here puts our water, wildlife, and public access at risk. These projects would permanently change the character of this area for the worse. These nominations should be rejected.
I oppose fracking in Egypt Valley Wildlife Area. Places like this matter to people across Ohio for recreation, wildlife, and future generations. This is land that families use, communities value, and wildlife depend on. We should be protecting this area, not opening it up to drilling. Please reject these nominations.
I oppose all nominations to frack Egypt Valley Wildlife Area. The recent approvals of thousands of acres set a dangerous precedent that should not be expanded further. Public lands are meant for conservation, recreation, and long term stewardship, not short term extraction. Continuing to approve these projects threatens water quality, ecosystems, and public trust in this process. The Commission should deny these nominations.
Don’t forget to comment on ALL FOUR Egypt Valley nominations.
Things are moving fast and they are counting on people feeling like it’s already done. It’s not.
But it will be if we don’t show up again. We’re not stopping.

INF is going to put a pad at the north entrance to Salt Fork State Park right beside Freedom Road and Egress. Viewable from the Park. 200’ off the hiway. They cut the trees already and test drilled this week. There are two entrances to Ohios largest state park. We will have a derrick up and drilling by fall at one of them if someone doesn’t object. Monroe Twp., Guernsey County. Booth is the landowner.
Thanks so much for bringing this to our attention. We will check this out. A well pad next to a park entrance! That says it all.
